Public Relations
The Public Relations program in the College of Communication and the Arts is one of just a handful of undergraduate programs nationwide to be certified by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Students in this major learn the professional principles and practices used by corporate, nonprofit and governmental organizations in an international framework to assess situations and determine, create and communicate strategic messages.
Public Relations majors learn in the classroom how the development and evolution of digital platforms supports domestic and global Public Relations campaigns and apply those learnings to work with real-world clients via internships in agencies, corporations, nonprofits or other organizations. Many students also work with our chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), working on live campaigns with real industry clients.
Most students graduate with a robust portfolio to share with prospective employers. Alumni from the Public Relations program have careers working with nationally recognized corporations like Coyne PR, Influenster, Nickelodeon, the NY Mets and many others.
