Spanish
Students of Spanish learn one of the world’s most spoken languages while also exploring the rich and varied cultures of the 21 Spanish-speaking countries. The B.A. in Spanish enables students to develop linguistic fluency and gain cultural proficiency in language, literature and culture courses that advance the knowledge of the Spanish language within a historical context. Intermediate and Advanced students also have the opportunity to study in a summer abroad in Alicante, Spain.
Since Spanish is widely spoken in both Hispanic countries and others—such as the United States and France—careers in almost any field are enhanced by a proficiency in the language: from business and health care, for example, to communication services. Students with second majors or minors work in positions such as media and communications, government or foreign service, local and international business and/or law, social service organizations, medical fields, travel and tourism and much more.
