Board of Advisors: Dr. Tushar Patel
Dr. Tushar Ch. Patel is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon,
who specializes in all spinal surgeon. He earned his medical degree from the University
of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at
George Washington University Medical Center in Washington DC. Then Dr. Patel went
to pursue his fellowship in Spinal Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland,
Ohio. He served as Chief, Section of Spine Surgery, Department of Orthopedics, Yale
University School of Medicine from 1994 to 2000, and then in Northern Virginia until
2017. Today. Dr. Patel focuses on conditions of the service spine (neck) with a particular
interest in mainly invasive surgery and disc replacement.
As the son of a diplomat, Dr. Patel had the opportunity to travel the world while
growing up. Today, he enjoys caring for his patients and getting to know them as individuals.
He was drawn to spinal surgery because of his fascination with the ever-changing technologies
and treatments. Furthermore, because it allows him to restore performance and function
to peoples' lives.
Dr. Patel's research interests include tissue engineering, bone growth factors, and
innovative techniques in spinal surgery. He holds six patents for spinal implants
that make spinal surgery saver and improve patient outcomes. His research, academic,
and clinical experience allow him to create an individual care plan that allows patients
to return as rapidly as possible to a healthy lifestyle. His research efforts have
resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Patel is internationally renowned
as a researcher in the field.
Dr. Patel is currently a member of the North American Spine Society, the Cervical
Spine research Society and a founding member of the Lumbar Spine Research Society.
He has held many leadership and committee positions in these societies. He has been
recognized as a "Top Doctor" six times by the Washingtonian magazine.
