Who are the instructors for the P.C.R.S. online program?
Students of the online P.C.R.S. program will be taught by professors who also teach
on-campus diplomacy courses for the Seton Hall School of Diplomacy and International
Relations.
What are the admissions requirements for this program?
Acceptance will be based on criteria that include:
- Baccalaureate degree
- Statement of purpose: one page statement stating previous accomplishments and the vision on how the certificate is related to future career goals
- Resume
- Letter of recommendation: 2 letters of recommendation by an academic advisor or professional supervisor
- 3.0 GPA or higher
International Students
- English proficiency is required, via TOEFL or IELTS for international candidates whose native language is not English.
- Academic transcripts from institutions outside of the United States or Canada must undergo a course-by-course evaluation conducted by an independent credentials evaluation agency, that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). How long will the program take to complete?
The P.C.R.S. can be completed in 9 to 12 months.
Is there a campus residency requirement?
No. The certificate is fully online, with no residency or campus visits required.
What is the cost of tuition for the program?
The P.C.R.S. consists of 15 graduate credits at $1,212 each, for a total cost of $18,180.
Is the program accredited?
The Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA), of which
the School of Diplomacy & International Relations is an affiliate member, does not
provide or require accreditation for individual certificate programs.
What will I learn in the program?
You will learn to:
- Assess the role of cultural factors in analyzing conflict and conflict resolution practices.
- Apply a range of theories, concepts and approaches to explain particular aspects of conflict.
- Apply critical analysis to various conflict situations to identify the drivers of conflicts and their cultural implications.
- Diagnose failings in the manner in which post-conflict countries have been aided in the past and to propose solutions with durable results.
- Systematically and analytically assess peacekeeping and peacemaking approaches.
- Develop procedures for truth and reconciliation commissions.
