About Us
The Ph.D. in Health Sciences degree program at Seton Hall University is designed for health professionals who are interested in pursuing an advanced research- and scholarship-focused education at the doctoral level. We train advanced practitioners, researchers, managers and educators using a broadly-based global health sciences core curriculum that allows students to choose one of three specialization tracks:
- Health Professions Leadership
- Movement Science
- Speech-Language Pathology

Our doctoral students are building their intellectual capacity, thus empowering themselves to learn and develop throughout their careers. As future leaders in our field, our Ph.D. students are challenged to creatively imagine, and then build, a new paradigm for healthcare delivery and service.
Our Experience
- 57-credit Ph.D. program depending on the academic background of the student:
- 48 credits beyond a clinical doctorate degree
- 57 credits beyond a master's degree
- Synchronous Online Model of Learning.
- Student can study:
- Part-time following a Synchronous Online 6-Year Program Plan
- Full-time following a Synchronous Online 4-Year Program Plan
- Small classes sizes.
- Classes meet synchronously online once a week in the evening.
- Students select with faculty mentorship specialization coursework in their area of concentration to meet their needs and interests.
- Coursework is enhanced through seminars, practica, scholarly projects, research forum presentations, and teaching experiences.
- All students conduct and defend an investigative research study (dissertation research) in an open oral defense.

The Ph.D. in Health Sciences program features a mentorship model of education that
promotes the development of critical thinking skills necessary to advance our students’
careers. Our students are adept at building collaborations, educating patients and
peers, conducting research, analyzing and applying information and administering innovative
healthcare services.
The program's home within the Department of Interprofessional Health Sciences and Health Administration fosters a dynamic learning environment, where interprofessional education and networking
opportunities abound.
