"I think that leaders are looked to for their expertise in whatever it is they do, but more important I believe it is their ability to translate their vision into the language of the people—especially in communication. I hope to embody this talent in my own life, and through the leadership program, I am confident that I can."
Sean Keegan has excelled both inside and outside of the classroom, graduating as valedictorian of his high school class and starting the Model UN Program there as well. Now a member of the first Buccino Leadership cohort at Seton Hall University, Sean will continue to enhance and develop the skills and traits he attains in a new, professional light.
Coming to Seton Hall provided Sean with endless opportunities to grow as a leader, and the leadership program provided him with a vehicle to take his passion of the communications field beyond his degree. "It seemed everything about Seton Hall just fell into place. I took that as a sign," said Sean. "In every interaction I had with students and staff at Seton Hall, I felt like it was the right fit."
Initially approached by Associate Director and Professor James Kimble, who informed him about the program, Sean said, "I was happy to find out this program would be surrounded by other people who were as driven and excited as I was." Sean hopes to gain valuable and unique leadership qualities that will help him to adapt to the variety of work environments he will encounter throughout his professional career.
Sean is involved in activities at Seton Hall that will help strengthen and grow his current skills. He is a member of the Brownson Speech and Debate Team, and participates in the persuasive speaking, informative speaking, and impromptu speaking events. After earning his degree, Sean intends to make a career in speech writing. "I discovered in high school through my participation in musicals that I loved public speaking and the art of effectively addressing an audience, so I am catering my academics and extracurriculars at Seton Hall to really hone those skills." He is effectively using his time at Seton Hall to develop himself into a leader who ready for anything that comes his way.
