AAAS Mass Media Science & Engineering Fellows Program
- For undergraduate seniors, recent graduates, and graduate/PhD students in the fields of the natural, physical, health, engineering, computer, or social sciences or mathematics. Participants serve a 10-week fellowship in a newsroom, helping to spread science knowledge to the public and enhance coverage of science-related issues in the media.
- Award: $450 weekly stipend for the duration of the program, as well as travel expenses.
- Open to full-time undergraduate (sophomores, juniors, and seniors only) and graduate students specializing in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Minimum GPA of 3.4 required.

AFCEA Young Entrepreneur Scholarship
- For part-time sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students with a declared major in a science, mathematics, or technology degree program, including management information systems, or a declared major in a business field with a science or technology minor. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be working for a small business while they attend school.

The American Chemical Society Scholars Program
- Offering scholarships to African-American, Hispanic, and Native American students majoring in chemical sciences or chemical technology with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

- For chemistry Bachelor's recipients with work experience in the field of chemistry who are now pursuing a Master's degree in education or becoming certified as a chemistry/science teacher. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Award: $6,000 for full-time students, $3,000 for part-time students.
American Society for Engineering Education Fellowships
- ASEE provides a number of fellowships for both undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of science- and math-related fields, including the Science, Mathematics, And Research for Transformation Defense Scholarship for Service Program (SMART), Naval Research Enterprise Intern Program (NREIP), and NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program. - For undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Applicants must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors (will be returning to undergraduate studies in the fall). A minimum GPA of 3.2 and an interest in pursuing a Ph.D. or M.D.-Ph.D. are also required. Participants take part in important university research projects, gain hands-on lab experience and contribute to the advancement of science; interact with and receive guidance from faculty mentors, including some of the world's leading academic scientists; and attend scientific seminars, workshops and other networking events.
- Award: Financial support is a critical component of the Amgen Scholars Program. Please note that details vary by host university. See each university's summer research program website for more information.
Audubon's Apacheria Fellowship Program
- For full-time undergraduate and graduate students conducting research on methods to safeguard and restore southwestern grasslands, and to assist policy makers and other citizens in the care and protection of our native ecosystems, natural resources, and quality of life. Examples of projects the program seeks to fund include: effects of fire and grazing on recovery of sacaton bottomlands, effects of habitat features on mortality of trees following fire and drought, establishment of long-term monitoring protocols and initial data collection for mammals and birds on ecological site transects, and baseline inventories of any of the following taxa: bats, grasshoppers, moths and butterflies, ants.
- Award: Range from $500 - $2,500. Fellows may re-apply for renewal for additional years.
- Boster is proud to provide an annual scholarship to students with an interest in pursuing or continuing a 4-year academic program related to Biology Technology. The Bosterbio Scholarships for Young Scientists Of Excellence will provide $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school or college students to aid their scientific research in college.
- Award: Two scholarships of $1000 USD will be awarded annually.
Cognizant Making the Future Scholarship

DAAD RISE - Research Internships in Science and Engineering
- For sophomores, juniors, or non-graduating seniors majoring in biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, or engineering. Over the course of a summer internship in Germany, students are matched with PhD students and work with research groups at universities and top research institutions. Knowledge of the German language is not necessary.
- Award: A monthly scholarship of 650 Euro for 8-12 weeks (prorated depending on length of stay).Participants also receive living expenses and housing assistance through a stipend. Additional benefits offered; see website for more details.
DAAD RISE Professional - Research Internships in Science and Engineering
- For recent Bachelor's recipients, graduate students, and PhD students in the fields of biology, chemistry, engineering, geology and physics (or a closely related field). RISE professional placements, ranging from a period of 6 weeks to 6 months, provide students the opportunity to live and work in an international context, to gain confidence in their practical and professional skills, and to improve their German. German language ability is not necessary for all positions.
- Award: A monthly scholarship of €150 for undergraduates, €250 for Master's students and graduates, and €500 for PhD students. The host companies contribute an additional stipend of €500 per month. An additional lump sum of €800 for travel expenses and a German Railpass for the trip to the scholarship meeting in Bonn are also provided, as well as health insurance and accident and personal/private liability insurance. Partial reimbursement for a German language class is provided if students opt to take one.
Department of Bioethics Pre- and Post-Doctoral Fellowships
- Pre-doctoral fellowships are for students with an undergraduate degree who intend to pursue post-graduate work. Post-doctoral fellowships are for applicants with a PhD, MD, JD, or other advanced degree in a relevant field. Both types of fellowships are for two years and are open to international students. Fellows participate in the activities and the intellectual life of the department and study ethical issues related to conduct of research, clinical practice, genetics and health policy. For a typical fellow, this research yields multiple publications in premier academic journals. Fellows conduct their research under the guidance of senior faculty, participate in weekly bioethics seminars, case conferences, ethics consultations, IRB deliberations, and have access to multiple educational opportunities at the NIH.

Department of Energy - Computational Science Graduate Fellowship
- For seniors or graduate students studying engineering, mathematics, or the physical, computer, or life sciences and planning to work full-time towards a PhD. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Students must be enrolled at a department that certifies that either: no more than one term of teaching, grading, or other departmental support activities are required of students in the applicant's department, or, if there are requirements to teach, grade or provide other departmental support for more than one term, they will be waived for the DOE CSGF fellow.
- Award: A yearly stipend of $36,000; full tuition and required fees paid during the appointment period; a $5,000 academic allowance in the first fellowship year and a $1,000 allowance each renewed year (to be used for the purchase of a computer workstation or for research / professional development expenses); the potential to renew the fellowship for up to four years of total support.
Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program

Knowles Science Teaching Fellowship Program

Recent graduates with a record of achievement in a biological or physical science, engineering or mathematics, and a desire to teach high school science and/or mathematics in the U.S. For students who are not yet certified. U.S. citizenship not required.
- Award: Tuition assistance and a monthly stipend while participating in a recognized teacher education program. Professional and financial support for up to five years.
Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship
- For U.S. citizens who are full-time sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants also must be women and/or minority students who are pursuing a degree in science, technology (IT), engineering, or mathematics (STEM majors). Participants are placed in paid summer internship positions, gaining experience in Department of Energy/Fossil Energy mission-related research programs, as well as an inside view of federal employment.
- Award: Weekly stipend of $500 for undergraduates, $650 for Master's degree students, and $750 for Doctoral and Post-Doctoral students. Travel costs to the host site are also covered, but fellows are responsible for their own housing.
- Undergraduates with financial need and a demonstrated interest in computer science. Four scholarship categories: general, women, underrepresented minority groups, and students with disabilities. Minimum GPA: 3.0. Must also apply for a summer internship. Open to international students.

National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellowship
- For U.S. citizens or nationals in the last year of their undergraduate work or in the first two years of their graduate work who will pursue or are pursing a doctoral degree in the physical sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, etc.), computer science, engineering, mathematics, or psychology.
- Award: 3-year appointment includes full tuition and required fees, a monthly stipend, and up to $1,000 a year of medical coverage.
National Institutes of Health Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program
- For U.S. citizens and permanent residents interested in pursuing a PhD in biomedical research. Participants earn a D.Phil or Ph.D. from Oxford or Cambridge with an average time to completion of four years, just over half the time it takes to complete a biomedical Ph.D. in the U.S. Students undertake a collaborative Ph.D. project in any area of biomedical investigation with two research mentors, participate in the enriched environment of the residential colleges of the U.K. Universities, and enjoy special educational opportunities for career development and understanding of broader issues surrounding biomedical research.
- Award: Full tuition coverage, a living stipend, health insurance coverage, and travel allowance.
National Physical Science Consortium - Graduate Fellowships in Science and Engineering
- For U.S. citizens who are seniors, first or second year graduate students, or students in a terminal Master's program (the student's university offers no Ph.D in the student's discipline). Applicants must be in one of the following fields: chemistry, computer science, mathematics, physics, or engineering. Applicants must be accepted at a participating NPSC-member university or college and progress through a full-time study program leading to a graduate degree in the physical sciences or related engineering fields. Fellows must complete one or two summer internships, as the sponsoring employer requires.
- Award: $20,000 stipend for 2, 3 or 6 years, depending on the employer-sponsor.
The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program
- The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, psychology, social work, history, public health, social work, business administration/management, and education (except research-focused STEM education programs). Applicants must be pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in the U.S. and abroad. Women, minorities, and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Award: Fellows benefit from a three-year annual stipend of $30,000 along with a $10,500 cost of education allowance for tuition and fees, a one-time $1,000 travel allowance and the freedom to conduct their own research at any accredited U.S., or foreign institution of graduate education they choose. Also provides TeraGrid Supercomputer access.
NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program
- Exceptional undergraduates from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to biomedical, behavioral, and social science health related research careers. Minimum GPA: 3.5. Must commit to an internship and one year full time employment at the NIH. For U.S. citizens, national, or qualified noncitizens.

Award: 1-year appointment, renewable to up to 4 years. Stipend provides up to $20,000 per academic year in tuition and living expenses.
- Applicant must be a New Jersey resident and be accepted to a college of osteopathic medicine. Applicant should rank in top quarter of class and have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Selection is based upon academic achievement, financial need, motivation, and professional promise as an osteopathic physician. Recipient must agree to become a member of the New Jersey Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (NJOAPS) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), complete his or her education, receiving the D.O. degree, and participate in AOA-approved internship/residency programs.

Nonproliferation Graduate Program (NGP) Fellowships

Graduate students (enrolled or recently graduated) who are eligible for high-level security clearance and have a career interest in nuclear nonproliferation and U.S. national security interests U.S. citizenship required.
- Award: The Fellowship is a 12-month appointment in Washington, D.C. Fellows participate in daily activities to support NNSA's global nonproliferation programmatic work. Annual salary of $49,000 ($59,000 for post-doctoral fellows). Benefits include health and dental plans, paid vacation, and paid holidays.
- Open to undergraduate and graduate-level U.S. citizens who are at least 18 years of age, able to participate in summer internships as part of the scholarship program, willing to accept post-graduate employment with the Department of Defense, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and are majoring in one of the following subjects: biology, chemistry, behavioral sciences, computer science, engineering, math, or physics.
- Award: Includes full tuition and education related fees (does not include items such as meal plans, housing, or parking); a cash award paid at a rate of $25,000 - $41,000 depending on prior educational experience (may be prorated depending on award length); paid summer internships; health Insurance reimbursement allowance up to $1,200 per calendar year; book allowance of $1,000 per academic year; mentoring; employment placement after graduation.
Smithsonian Minority Awards Program
