Mission, Vision and Values

Mission

The Institute for Communication and Religion will enhance the University’s and the College’s sustained leadership in fostering open, clear dialogue and study between religious believers and the broader public in the communication disciplines at the theoretical, professional, and practical levels. The Institute is inspired by Nostra Aetate and is in the spirit of ecumenical and interreligious cooperation.

Vision

The Institute intends to:

  • Contribute to public dialogue and debate on religious issues
  • Promote scholarly inquiry on the interconnection of communication and religion
  • Support and explore the religious dimension of artistic expression and creativity
  • Engage University students throughout their academic programs
  • Encourage other academic disciplines within the University as integral partners
