Seton Hall Esports made history once again last season as the Rocket League team secured their third consecutive Big East Championship, commemorating the victory with a special ring ceremony on September 27, 2024. The event, held in front of an enthusiastic crowd of students and alumni, honored the players, coaches, and support staff who made this unprecedented achievement possible.
The atmosphere was jovial as alumni returned to campus to celebrate with the current team. Former managers, who helped lay the foundation for the program’s success, mingled with current players, sharing stories of their time competing at Seton Hall. Their presence highlighted the growing legacy that the program continues to build year after year.
The ceremony kicked off with a highlight reel of the team's outstanding performance throughout the season, showcasing their teamwork, resilience, and individual moments of brilliance. One by one, each player was called up to receive their custom championship ring—a symbol of their dedication and the strong culture of unity and excellence that has been fostered within the program.
"This team has shown what it means to never settle," said Antonio Riozzi, head coach of the Rocket League team. "Winning one championship is hard, but winning three in a row is a testament to their dedication, preparation, and passion."
The event also provided an opportunity to reflect on how far the Seton Hall Esports program has come in recent years. From a small group of dedicated gamers to a nationally recognized program, the team's success has played a key role in raising the profile of collegiate esports at the university.
"We are incredibly proud of what this program has accomplished," said Victor Gomez, Seton Hall Esports manager. "Our players have set a standard for excellence, not just in Rocket League, but for every team within Seton Hall Esports."
As the event concluded, fans and alumni were invited to take photos with the team, championship rings, and the championship trophies, a fitting end to a night celebrating Seton Hall's continued dominance in the BIG EAST Rocket League collegiate scene.
With the new season underway, Seton Hall’s Rocket League team is once again poised to make waves, and this ring ceremony serves as a reminder that the Pirates are not just competing—they are building a dynasty.
