Department Film & Discussion Nights
Each semester the Department attempts to organize the showing of a film on a compelling
and sometimes controversial socio-cultural topic. Past films have included “The Times
of Harvey Milk,” “Sicko,” and “Digital Nation.” The events include facilitated discussion
among students and faculty members. Some professors offer extra credit for attendance
or related papers.

Alpha Kappa Delta, International Sociology Honor Society
Bi-annually, eligible students are inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) the international
sociology student honor society of the American Sociological Association. The installation
ceremony invites the relatives and friends of distinguished majors to join with the
faculty in honoring outstanding student achievement. When appropriate, the faculty
also presents a Distinguished Graduate Award at this event to an alumnus who best
illustrates the principles of Humanistic Sociology in his or her professional and
community life.
Lambda Alpha Delta, National Collegiate Honors Society for Anthropology
