M.S.S.L.P. Program Details
About Us
The mission of the Seton Hall Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (M.S.S.L.P.) is to prepare students with a broad knowledge base of human communication and its impairments, competency in clinical service delivery, and a strong foundation in the principles of evidence-based practice. Aligned with the Catholic mission of Seton Hall University and the School of Health and Medical Sciences, students will be prepared to assume servant leadership roles in a global society. The program is internationally recognized for its faculty who are experts in their respective fields and are invested in educating students to practice as speech-language pathologists in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment. We are known for a competency-based curriculum, progressive instructional methods, community engagement, and an environment that supports faculty-student partnerships in generating new knowledge.
As professional speech-language pathologists, our graduates are well prepared to:
- work with elementary school children to improve their articulation, language, fluency, voice and pragmatic skills;
- support patients with neurological conditions by providing acute care in hospital settings to address oral motor, swallowing, speech, language and voice disorders; and
- assist individuals who are recovering from cleft palates, feeding disorders or autism spectrum diagnoses.
Strategically focused and student centered, the Seton Hall M.S.S.L.P. program is recognized for its approach to interprofessional education. The Department faculty developed and approved a new strategic plan to advance the mission, vision, and goals of the department. Click here to access the new Strategic Plan for the Department.

Our Research
Our students are directly involved in this knowledge-expanding research, which happens in our on-campus laboratories, each devoted to a different area of speech-language pathology. Government agencies and private foundations are increasingly investing in the innovative research that takes place here, as we strive to help our students build the bridge from theory to research to practice.
Seton Hall M.S.S.L.P. students have the option to either take Research Methods II their third semester, or complete a research project over the course of the third through fifth semesters. Students can choose to work with a professor on an existing project, or can come up with their own research design.
