On September 15, ABC's Good Morning America co-host Robin Roberts was honored by the Center for Sports Media for her esteemed career with the Lifetime Professional Achievement Award at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City. This event brought professionals and the Seton Hall community together to celebrate Robin Roberts along with the creation of the Center.
Accompanying the numerous sports media professionals and administrators who were present at the event were Seton Hall students invited to assist, produce social media content, and make meaningful connections with the individuals who were in attendance. Around 20 students from the Buccino Leadership Institute enjoyed the opportunity to attend.
"Being able to attend the Sports Media Gala is something that will always be grateful for," said Claire Wolfe '23 about the event. "Hearing advice from someone as influential as Robin Roberts reminded me to be ambitious, stay passionate, and be willing to do anything to get where you want to go."
Those same sentiments of being grateful to attend the event were shared by Nick Morgan '26. While only being on the campus for a couple of weeks, Morgan was excited to take advantage of the opportunity, stating, "Just three weeks into my college career, I was already given the opportunity to meet with successful Seton Hall alumni as well as other leaders in the sports media industry whom I look up to. It was wonderful to hear about the future of the Center for Sports Media and I can’t wait to take advantage of it over the course of my time here"
The Sports Media Gala also highlighted the interdisciplinary goals for the Center. Arianna Weling '23, a double major in Marketing and English, took a lot away from attending the event.
"Robin Roberts gave insightful advice and guidance that I will remember forever — personally and professionally," Weling said. "Overall, the event was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. To be surrounded by some of the sports industry's most insightful, hardworking, and successful individuals was an honor and has changed the way I look at my future aspirations."

The event also featured a panel discussion that brought together former and current Seton Hall students to discuss the student experience of sports media on campus, and where they think the future of the Center can go.
"I was honored to be given the chance to be on the panel to talk about my experience with Seton Hall and how I got involved with Pirate Sports Network," Wiseman mentioned. "I was glad to share the amazing experience I am having on campus, and I can't wait to see what other amazing opportunities this Center will bring"
