Message from the CIO

Paul E. Fisher Jr.

Seton Hall University has been my home away from home for many years. As Chief Information Officer, I am privileged to lead our efforts in harnessing technology to enhance the core pillars of our institution: teaching, learning and research. In an era where digital innovation shapes every aspect of higher education, we recognize that technology is not merely a tool, but a catalyst for transformative experiences that empower our students to reach their career goals, our faculty to achieve their scholarly and research goals and our staff and administration to support the community.

At Seton Hall, we are advancing several key initiatives designed to amplify this impact. The modernization of our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system through the implementation of Banner SaaS represents a foundational step toward greater operational efficiency and seamless integration across administrative functions. Complementing this is the development of a new reporting environment, which democratizes data access throughout the University, enabling informed decision-making and fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration.

Our overarching digital transformation strategy further streamlines administrative processes, reducing bureaucratic hurdles and allowing our community to focus on what matters most—academic excellence and scholarly pursuits.

To bolster our research capabilities, we are enhancing our research computing infrastructure through innovative use of cloud computing, providing advanced computational resources, high-performance computing clusters, and scalable data storage solutions. This initiative directly supports faculty and researchers in achieving ambitious goals, from data-intensive simulations to collaborative interdisciplinary projects, thereby elevating Seton Hall's standing in scholarly innovation.

Another highlight of our efforts is the establishment of the Innovation Hub at the Teaching, Learning & Technology Center. This dedicated space, tailored for students and faculty, integrates 21st-century tools into pedagogical practices and projects. Features such as podcasting studios, 3D printing facilities, virtual and augmented reality environments, and a professional video studio provide hands-on opportunities to explore emerging technologies, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application.

At the heart of our endeavors lies our unwavering commitment to teaching. We are dedicated to supporting this mission through the appropriate of technology, ensuring it serves as an enabler of innovation, skill achievement, and intellectual growth. Together, we are building a future where Seton Hall continues to thrive as a leader in higher education.

Thank you for visiting our website. I encourage you to explore further to learn how technology is transforming education and driving success at Seton Hall University. We look forward to sharing more updates and insights with you.
