The Undergraduate Social Work Program was invited to the New Jersey Future Health Professionals, formerly known as Health
Occupations Students of America (HOSA), Northern Regional State Conference on January
12, 2019, at Passaic County Vocational Technical School. HOSA is an organization for
secondary and postsecondary/collegiate career and technical education students enrolled
in health science (and pre-technical health science) or biomedical science education
programs, or for students who are planning to pursue a health career. HOSA was officially
founded in November 1976 and comprises state associations organized under the auspices
of the appropriate state education agency or other approved institution. Local HOSA
chapters provide programs and activities to help individuals develop their physical,
mental and social well-being. Members strengthen their leadership and citizenship
abilities through interaction with professional, business and other student organizations.
HOSA members have the opportunity to share experiences with other people involved
in the health professions. Members build confidence in their own ability to develop
skills that will lead to successful employment in the field of health. The mission
of New Jersey HOSA is to empower young leaders in the global health community through
                                    education, collaboration, and experience.

Mary Landriau, Faculty Associate and Field Director of the Baccalaureate Social Work (BSW) Program,
represented Seton Hall University at this all day event, providing information about
the social work profession and employment in health care, specifically. She met and
interacted with over 700 aspiring health care students, many of whom were interested
in pursuing their education at Seton Hall University. This wonderful networking event
exposed potential Seton Hall students to the academic excellence and role of Seton
Hall University in training the next generation of health care professionals.
