Students in the SAT course
High school students from across New Jersey devoted part of their summer to strengthening their academic skills and future opportunities during Seton Hall University’s SAT/ACT & College Application Prep Program. Hosted by the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS), the program ran from July 7–17, 2025 and equipped students with tools to navigate the college admissions process with confidence.
Over the two-week session, students attended daily classes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., where experienced instructors guided them through intensive SAT preparation, college essay writing workshops and strategies for managing the often-complicated application process. The curriculum balanced academic rigor with real-world readiness, ensuring participants left with not just stronger test-taking skills, but also an overall deeper understanding of what colleges look for in their applicants.
Professor Pallitto, Ph.D., one of the instructors, reflected on the students’ engagement, noting, “We had lively participation and a good week of working through SAT problems.”
Beyond the classroom, the program emphasized what it feels like to be a college student. Participants explored Seton Hall’s campus, connected with peers from across the state and practiced building relationships in a collegiate environment. As one student shared, “My favorite part about the program was the experience that I got from it. I experienced how it normally is to be a college student at Seton Hall and making new friends from different parts of the state.”
The program’s success reflects CEPS’s mission of preparing students not only academically, but also personally, for the transition to higher education. By combining standardized test preparation with essay writing, college-readiness strategies and a glimpse into student life, Seton Hall provided participants with a strong foundation for their next chapter.
As the program concluded, students walked away with more than just stronger test-taking strategies and essay-writing skills; they gained confidence, friendships and the reassurance that they are ready to take the next steps on their path to college success.
