On Monday November 14, 2022 at 4 p.m., Seton Hall University will be hosting a virtual
lecture in honor of Native American Heritage Month by Michael Witgen titled, "Unthinkable
History: The American Settler-State and the Political Economy of Plunder." Witgen
is a professor in the Department of History and the Center for the Study of Ethnicity
and Race at Columbia University, and a citizen of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior
Ojibwe. He is the author of "An Infinity of Nations: How the Native New World Shaped Early North America" (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2012) and, most recently, "Seeing Red: Indigenous Land, American Expansion, and the Political Economy of Plunder
in North America" (UNC Press for the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture, 2022).
This exciting event is co-sponsored by the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee,
the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of History.
