Seton Hall’s Xi Gamma Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) International Honor Society in Education at Seton Hall University welcomed a new cohort of undergraduate and graduate students during its annual induction ceremony on Sunday, April 19.

KDP is one of the largest international honor societies in the field of education, recognizing students and professionals who demonstrate academic achievement and a commitment to excellence in education and human services. The ceremony celebrated the accomplishments of nearly 60 students from the College of Human Development, Culture and Media (CHDCM), who were joined by family members and guests.

Undergraduate inductees from the Department of Educational Studies represented a wide range of academic programs, including elementary and special education, developmental and special learning (DVSL), applied behavior analysis (ABA), secondary education and secondary/special education. To qualify, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.4.

Graduate students inducted into KDP represented programs across counseling, school counseling, educational leadership (K–12 and higher education), law enforcement leadership and special education. Graduate inductees are required to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.8, reflecting the society’s emphasis on high academic standards and professional readiness.

The Xi Gamma Chapter is led by faculty advisors Lauren McFadden, Ed.D., and, Daniel Moore, Ph.D., who oversee the chapter’s mission and programming. Rooted in four core ideals, humanity, science, service and toil -- KDP promotes scholarly excellence, ethical practice and meaningful service across the education professions.

Reflecting on this year’s ceremony, Professor McFadden shared that the induction ceremony is one of the most meaningful moments of the academic year, providing a special opportunity to recognize students’ hard work and academic excellence. She added that, “Seeing their joy and the pride of their families makes the celebration especially rewarding.”

Echoing a similar sentiment, Professor Moore said: "The ceremony was a great way to celebrate the new inductees and recognize those who have supported them throughout their academic journeys.”

Throughout the academic year, the Xi Gamma Chapter hosts a variety of events focused on professional development, community engagement and chapter development. These programs, grounded in KDP’s core values, are open not only to chapter members but also to the broader Seton Hall University community.

The induction ceremony served as both a celebration of academic achievement and an affirmation of students’ commitment to leadership and service in education. As new members of Kappa Delta Pi, inductees join an international network of educators and scholars dedicated to advancing the profession and positively impacting learners and communities.
