Director of Clinical Education
Department of Occupational Therapy
My goal as an educator has been to prepare students for their future roles as clinicians while facilitating the integration of course material. As students gain competence in introductory skills and concepts, I challenge them to apply this knowledge to clinical cases. I strive to provide my students with evidenced-based practice and real-world scenarios from my experience as a clinician. When mentoring students in the clinical setting, I focus on facilitating self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses. I foster students' abilities to generate strategies that will improve their performance in any area of the occupational therapy process.
My end goal is for students to achieve competency as they develop their professional identity. I encourage my students to project confidence, be prepared and take initiative as they interact with supervisors and clients while making the successful transition from classroom to clinic.
