Father Swantek's theological studies have focused on St. John Paul II's theological anthropology, the theology of marriage and family, and evangelization. He wrote his S.T.L. thesis on "Participation in the Mystery: Suffering, Sacraments and Healing in light of St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body," which explored St. John Paul II's anthropology in order to understand suffering and sacraments as two paths to redemption and healing. His S.T.B. thesis was on "Relations in the Trinity and Man's Relation to God," which explored how our understanding of God (theology) is foundational for understanding of our humanity (anthropology).
