Gregory Iannarella, M.A.
Lecturer of English/ Coordinator of Business Writing
Department of English
I'm a near life long Pirate, having attended Seton Hall Prep for high school, and Seton Hall University for Undergrad and Graduate school, before returning to work as a Lecturer in the English Department. I was brought on as a teaching professor whose main focus was instructing First Year Writing classes: English 1201 and 1202. My early pedagogy included developing curriculum that focused on issues of race, social justice, and politics to keep our First Year Writing curriculum up-to-date, relevant, and transformative for our students/future leaders.
I teach in the University Core, where I instruct Journey of Transformation courses. These courses utilize my previously mentioned pedagogy to look at pressing global issues through the lens of texts crucial to the Roman Catholic Intellectual Tradition.
As Coordinator of Business Writing, I work closely with the English Department and Stillman School of Business to develop Business Writing curriculum and assessment. My research in this field focuses on Data Narratives, the space where narrative writing meets data analytics. These courses help students use high level data wrangling and visualization tools to craft cohesive narrative reports that tell important stories about our world. To support this work, I've received a Nanodegree in Data Analytics from Udacity and am pursuing an M.A. in Data Science.
