C.J. Urso, Ph.D., is a dedicated educator in the Department of Biological Sciences, committed to active student-centered, inquiry-based, and experiential learning. With a strong focus on medically oriented coursework, Dr. Urso teaches undergraduate courses in Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology, preparing nursing and pre-health students for their future careers.  Dr. Urso also trains M.S. and Ph.D. students in the Department of Biological Sciences and teaches a graduate course in Recombinant DNA Technology.  In addition to teaching, Dr. Urso pursues research on protein palmitoylation as a spatiotemporal regulator of cellular function, exploring its implications in metabolic diseases.
