New in Microsoft Teams
Malicious URL Protection in Teams Chat and Channels
Microsoft Teams can now detect and warn users about malicious URLs sent in chats and channels, improving protection against malware attacks. When a suspicious link is detected, Teams will automatically display a warning to both the sender and recipient. This feature helps users make safer decisions before clicking potentially harmful links. It applies to Teams for Windows desktop, Mac desktop, web, iOS and Android.
Weaponizable File Type Protection in Teams Chat and Channels
Teams now blocks messages containing unsafe file types, such as executables, in chats and channels to reduce the risk of file-based attacks. It applies to Teams for Windows desktop, Mac desktop, web, iOS and Android.
- Recipients will see a notification that a message was blocked but cannot access the content.
- Senders will receive a notification and can edit and resend the message without the unsafe file.
Loop Pages in Teams Channels
Loop Pages are now available in Teams Channels, providing a dynamic canvas for real-time collaboration. Users can add Loop Pages as tabs within a channel, streamlining workflows across desktop and mobile platforms.
New Organizer Controls for Meetings
Microsoft Teams introduces Organizer Controls in the meeting toolbar to streamline access to key meeting management features. These controls consolidate existing capabilities into a single fly-out menu, improving usability and security for meeting organizers and co-organizers.

Microsoft Teams Copilot Default Without Transcription
Copilot in Teams meetings will now default to running without transcription. Conversation history will persist during meetings, but transcription must be manually enabled to generate post-meeting insights. For example, Copilot can still recap what was said during the meeting in real time, but full transcripts will only be available if the organizer turns transcription on.
New in Microsoft Outlook
Copilot Chat Overlay in Outlook Mobile
Outlook has introduces a new Copilot Chat overlay for iOS and Android. Instead of accessing Copilot only from a tab, users can now chat with Copilot while continuing to interact with email, calendar and contacts. The overlay is context aware, meaning Copilot understands what you are viewing and can give tailored help. For example, if you are reading an email, Copilot can summarize or draft a reply, if you are in your calendar, Copilot can check your availability and if you are viewing contacts Copilot can surface recent interactions.

Retirement of Web-Based "Share to Teams"
Between September 22 and October 3, 2025, the web-based Share to Teams feature in Outlook will retire. Users without the Teams desktop app will be prompted to install it. Those with the desktop app can continue sharing directly via Teams.
Relocated Send Button in Outlook Mobile
To reduce accidental sends, the Send button is moving from the bottom toolbar to the header area in Outlook Mobile. This update, rolling out to iOS and Android, places the button in a less crowded location, creating a more intentional and error-free messaging experience by minimizing the chances of unintentional taps.
