Library Resources
The University Law, Valente, and Walsh Libraries and the Monsignor James C. Turro
Seminary Library, the research library for Seton Hall University’s Immaculate Conception
Seminary / School of Theology, in conjunction with the Monsignor William Noe’ Field
Archives & Special Collections Center, provide notable resources to our Catholic Studies
students and faculty. This includes extensive holdings of almost 750,000 book volumes,
1,127 current periodical subscriptions, back-files of more than 6,500 serial titles,
electronic access to full text articles in more than 25,000 journals, a broad selection
of indexing and abstracting services in both digital and print formats, various microform
collections, music CDs, audiovisual aids and detailed primary source archival materials.
The Walsh Library was recently the recipient of the International Society for Science
and Religion (ISSR) Library Project grant. The ISSR Library is a foundational collection
of 225 books that delineate the main, thematic contours of inquiry in science and
religion. They included the topics of world religions, environmental ethics, ecology,
anthropology, medicine, biology, psychology and neuroscience. Faculty and students
also have access to extensive book collections on the Orthodox and Byzantine-Catholic
or Greek-Catholic Scriptural and Liturgical texts. The Valente Library, the second
largest library collection of Italian books in New Jersey, constitutes more than 20,000
volumes devoted to Italian history and culture.
