University Core Hosts Events on The Catholic Intellectual Tradition - Seton Hall University

After this powerful event on Sunday, on Tuesday, the Brownson debate team presents "Dante and the Good Life: Dante Reinterpreted," where students from COAR give renditions of passages from Dante’s Divine Comedy, taken from the excerpts we cover in Core I: Journey of Transformation (5-6:15 p.m., Schwartz Hall, room 06). This top-ranking team is under the direction of Prof. Catherine Zizik and coached by Prof. Sam Ohrenberger Hopkins. This event is part of our Dante series, co-sponsored by the Catholic Studies Program, the Catholic Studies Center, the College of Communication and the Arts, Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, University Libraries, Special Collections, and the University Core Curriculum.

Dr. Tom Rzeznik, Associate Professor of History and author
On Wed., the Core is excited to present Dr. Thomas Rzeznik, Associate Professor in the History Department, will be presenting on his book, The Cambridge Companion to American Catholicicsm (Cambridge, May, 2021), co-edited with Margaret M. McGuinness. Dr. Rzeznik also teaches in the Catholic Studies program and serves as co-editor of the quarterly journal, American Catholic Studies. He is currently working on a history of St. Vincent's Hospital and Catholic healthcare in New York City.

Dr. Greg Glazov, ICSST professor and Biblical scholar
Finally, on Thursday, Nov. 11, the Core is pleased to co-sponsor with the Catholic Studies Program and the Catholic Studies Center another special event in our Dante series. Dr. Greg Glazov, of ICSST and who also teaches in the Core, will be presenting on Dante and the Bible. His presentation will be at 5 p.m. Dr. Greg Glazov, graduate of Oxford University and Biblical scholar, who has also conducted faculty development sessions in how to teach the Bible for the Core, will be giving his insightful look at the work of Dante. It should be extremely interesting. His talk will be in the Beck Rooms of Walsh Library and will be available via Teams. Join the Teams meeting Here.
