Love Thy Neighbor
"Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself." Matthew 22:39
The COVID-19 pandemic has created innumerable needs throughout our local and global communities. The Division of Volunteer Efforts (DOVE) continues to provide material and financial relief to our long-standing community service partners. We are now seeking your help in providing non-perishable food, feminine products, diapers, and hygiene items to our neighbors who need them.
The Love Thy Neighbor Campaign will benefit our partners, including:
- Raphael's Life House
- St. John’s Soup Kitchen
- Our Lady of Sorrows Food Pantry
- Securing Our Future Today (S.O.F.T.), founded by Sanika Joshi, Class of 2023
- Members of our own Seton Hall community

"Because our supporters are in the U.S. and many of them have suffered because of this pandemic, we have unfortunately seen a decrease in the assistance that the board was receiving from them on the orphanage's behalf. We were wondering if we were going to be able to send our children to school this year. But because of your shipment of supplies, the kids are now back in school and they are happy. We are blessed to have 'guardian angels' from Seton Hall University helping us!" - Jean Lois Lefort, Maison Fortune Orphanage, Hinche, Haiti
"DOVE is vital to our mission in many ways. We know that students who get involved with DOVE are incredibly passionate about serving their community, and we are grateful for all they have done even though they can no longer come down to the kitchen. The donation of dry goods helps in our daily effort to serve warm meals to over 250 Newark area residents. We cannot thank DOVE enough for their dedication and willingness to serve." - Peter Dobbs, St. John's Soup Kitchen, Newark, NJ
Love Thy Neighbor: DOVE Toy Drive
November 1, - December 14, 2021
Each Christmas season, DOVE provides gifts to several schools and agencies in Newark, the Maplewood South Orange School District, and the Don Bosco Youth Center. In addition to local sites, DOVE donates gifts for the impoverished children in Appalachia, West Virginia, as they have done for over 25 years. Many of these children would not receive a Christmas gift if not for DOVE's donations, and we are especially devoted to making Christmas happen for our vulnerable community partners who have felt the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic most.
Each year, members of our Seton Hall network donate upwards of 1,500 toys for children in need. We then sort, wrap, and load the gifts into the DOVE vans. It's your generosity that makes this all possible. Thank you for continuing to be a part of this Christmas miracle. Click here to find out more.
