Empowering a new era of

bold change-makers

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton dedicated her life to making higher education accessible for all. We carry on her legacy by making graduate school affordable — not only through our tuition costs and scholarships, but also by making sure students understand all their options, including federal aid, graduate assistantships and more.

We are invested

in the good of your future

We see the promise of higher education, which is why we are committed to funding as many scholarships as possible. Once accepted into a graduate program, you may be eligible for an endowed or University-subsidized scholarship, including the Graduate Merit Scholarship.

The Graduate Merit Scholarship

Once admitted to a graduate program, you may be considered for a merit award, which can range from several thousand dollars to as much as 50 percent of your first-year tuition. Consideration is based on your prior GPA and degrees completed, as well as your program of study. Funds vary by academic department and awards are applied to tuition charges only. To learn more, contact the Office of Graduate Affairs.

The Graduate Merit Scholarship has helped me focus more on my studies and less on the financial difficulties associated with graduate school.

Fund your degree

with flexible loan programs

One common way for graduate students to financially support their education is through a variety of federal and private loans. These options include Direct Unsubsidized Loans, Direct PLUS Loans and alternative student loan programs. Learn more about your loan options on the Office of Financial Aid site.

The Office of Financial Aid is also happy to talk you through loan eligibility, your FAFSA application or any other questions you may have. You can call them at (800) 222-7183 or reach them via email at [email protected].

Support from outside the

Seton Hall community

External fellowships, scholarships and grants offer financial support as well as the opportunity for professional growth beyond your core academic studies. They are competitive, merit-based awards designed to help you focus on your graduate research and training, without the requirement of service to the University.

The Office of Grants and Research Services (OGRS)

OGRS has curated a detailed list of fellowship opportunities available through government agencies and private institutions.

Fellowships & Scholarships

The Office of Graduate Affairs has also curated a list of external fellowship and scholarship databases to help you find the opportunities that might fit your needs and area of study.

Seton Hall offered a good fulcrum for these relationships to flourish. The caliber of expert speakers and mentors we had access to through the Fellowship took us much beyond the classroom experience.

Hone Your Talents While

offsetting your tuition

Assistantships allow you to develop useful professional skills while earning tuition coverage, as well as a monthly stipend. Responsibilities are related to teaching, academic research or administrative work and pay full tuition for a certain number of credits each semester. Assistants are typically required to work 20 hours per week and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher. Seton Hall offers a limited number of these opportunities each academic year, which often renew for a second year if the student and supervisor are both happy with the arrangement.
