COVID-19 Isolation and Quarantine Directions

Effective January 16, 2022, Seton Hall adopts the following Isolation and Quarantine Directions for students which are in accordance with the updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Testing Positive for COVID-19

All students who test positive for COVID-19 must do the following:

  • Immediately inform Health Services (call 973-761-9175)
  • Cooperate with Contact Tracing. Contact Tracing is done by Health Services (or other trained SHU personnel) in conjunction with the local Health Department.
  • Monitor yourself for COVID-19 symptoms daily. If symptoms develop or worsen, contact your Health Care provider or Health Services.
  • Isolate for five full days. After five full days, on the sixth day, if you are symptom-free (including fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medication), you may leave isolation.
    • You must continue to wear a well-fitting mask around others for an additional five days.
    • If you continue to have symptoms after five days, follow the direction of your Health Care provider or Health Services.
  • Resident Students may choose to isolate in Neumann Hall or isolate off-campus at home.
All faculty, staff and administrators who test positive for COVID-19 must contact Human Resources.

Identified as a Close Contact and Quarantine

Seton Hall Contact Tracers and/or the Local Board of Health speak with the person diagnosed with COVID-19 to determine who is a Close Contact. If you are identified as Close Contact, the Contact Tracer will contact you with directions for next steps.

The following policies and guidelines inform their decisions.

For All Close Contacts

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, you must:

  • Test as soon as possible
