Bateman team: Professor Jeanne Salvatore, Jeimy Simon,Vivienne Caccavale, Lara Woodin, Professor Sadia Cheema
A team of public relations students is making waves on the national stage as they compete in the prestigious Bateman Case Study Competition, the nation’s premier public relations contest for college students.
Representing Seton Hall’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), the team is working on a strategic campaign for EveryLibrary and the EveryLibrary Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting local libraries and fighting book bans.
The team—comprised of Lara Woodin, Sabrina Reves, Jeimy Simon and Vivienne Caccavale—works under the guidance of faculty advisors Professor Jeanne Salvatore and Sadia Cheema, Ph.D. Their campaign aims to engage students and the broader Seton Hall community in advocacy efforts to protect access to books and library resources.
“This is an incredible opportunity to make our voices heard and defend our access to knowledge,” said Jeimy Simon, team leader. “We want to inspire students to take action and stand up for libraries and intellectual freedom.”
As part of their campus outreach, the Bateman team and PRSSA are hosting two interactive events: “Fight for Knowledge & Get a Cupcake” and “Make Your Own Bookmark.” These events are designed to raise awareness about book banning and encourage students to support EveryLibrary’s mission.
Seton Hall’s Bateman team has a strong track record in the competition, with last year’s campaign for Culturs Magazine reaching the finals.
This year, the students and their advisors are eager to bring home the top prize.
