Prior to working in academia full-time, Jeanne was the chief communications officer for the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.) where she was its primary spokesperson, appearing frequently on television, radio, and in social media.
She studied coaching and neurologist programming (NLP) at Erickson Coaching International and is certified as a coach by the International Coach Federation and from the Center for Executive Coaching. She also was certified by the Institute of Insurance Research in Crisis Communications.
Jeanne’s professional interests include strategic communications, crisis communications, reputation management and public relations writing.

- She co-wrote the textbook, Strategic Public Relations Writing: Proven Tactics and Techniques, published by Routledge in 2022.

- Jeanne is an active member of the Public Relations Society of America and was awarded the John W. Hill award in November 2022 for mentorship and contributions to the profession. She was also awarded PRSA-NY's President Award and the Insurance Marketing Communication Association Torchbearer’s Award.
- She is also an active member of the New York Publicity Club, The Wisemen and the Institute for Public Relations Research.
- Before joining Seton Hall University, she was an assistant professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology and an adjunct professor at the City College of New York, Columbia University, and Iona College.
- She is also the president JMS Consulting, which offers executive coaching as well as media and presentation training.
