New Student Welcome Weekend Schedule
New Student Welcome Weekend is a mandatory in-person event series for all incoming first-year and transfer students. Information about Welcome Weekend and new student move-in 2025 will be available soon!

Welcome Weekend 2024 will take place Friday, August 23 to Sunday, August 25 with new student move-in taking place on August 21-22.
Reminders for new students:
- For those students living on campus, Housing and Residence Life will send specific information in August about the move-in day schedule.
- Students will be pre-assigned to small groups based on their University Life course section and Peer Advisor assignment.
- Welcome Weekend is intended for students only, there will be no formal programs for family members.

Wednesday, August 21
New Student Move-In Day!
The Department of Residence Life is excited to welcome our resident students back
Home to the Hall. Each residential student will be assigned a specific time to come
to the South Orange campus to move into their new residence hall! If you have questions
or need any additional information about Move-In Day, please email [email protected] or visit the The Department of Residence Life website.
3:30 p.m. Move-In Day Mass for New Students and Families
Main Chapel
Take a break from the busyness of Move-In Day and join Campus Ministry for a special
Mass for new students, their families, and friends!
6 p.m. Move-In Day Pizza Party
Campus Ministry Courtyard & Lounge, Boland Hall
Celebrate your first night as a New Pirate at Campus Ministry’s Move-In Day Pizza
Party.
7 p.m. Post Move-In Relaxation Activities"
University Center, Event Room
Join the Office of Student Engagement (OSE) for some distressing activities after
a full day of move-in day.

Come show your Pirate Pride and help cheer on the women’s soccer team as they take
on Lehigh! The first 500 students in attendance will get an athletics keychain!
6 p.m. Move-In Day Pizza Party

8 p.m. Movie Under the Stars

SCREAM Theater

This traveling theater made up of college students, uses interactive, informative
skits to educate audiences on issues of interpersonal violence, specifically on sexual
assault, domestic and dating violence, stalking, sexual harassment, and bullying.
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Campus Partner Open House
Various Locations
Students will have the opportunity to visit campus partners offices to learn more
about their resources. Some offices will have activities and/or special treats. Learn More About:

Are you going to be commuting this semester? Worried about meeting people or getting
involved? We want to put your mind as ease. This session is a chance for incoming
students to hear from peers to learn more about what life is like as a commuter at
Seton Hall. You will also have the chance to ask questions to the panelists.
12 Steps to Appreciating Diversity
University Center, Event Room
Meet Mohammed Bilal – musician, poet, and writer. You may recognize him from MTV's Real World III: San Francisco. Join Mohammed as he shares his insights and passion for how we can all better learn
to appreciate diversity.
6 p.m. Make the World Your Classroom
University Center, Theatre
Explore the world of study abroad! Learn all about the amazing international experiences
at Seton Hall and compete in the Global Trivia Challenge for a chance to win some
great prizes!
7 p.m. SAB Presents- Camp Pirate
University Green
Join the Student Activities Board (SAB) on the Green and Pirate Plaza camp-inspired
evening filled with firepits, lawn games, music, s’mores, and ice cream!
8 p.m. – Eric Dittelman, Comedy Mind Reader

Ever wonder what it would be like to know what someone else was thinking? What if
you knew exactly what someone else was going to do before they did it? As seen as
a semi-finalist on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and a guest on “The Ellen DeGeneres
Show”, Eric Dittelman combines amazing mind reading with stand-up and improvisational
comedy.

This high energy session discusses “natural highs” and delivers important messages
about resilience, positive social support and making healthy choices. Matt pulls in
the audience with participation and the human chair – you won't want to miss it!
The Pirate Way: Feel empowered to be an active bystander
Bethany Hall, Room BC
Here at Seton Hall, Pirates help Pirates. This session will give you the tools and
knowledge to feel empowered and prepared to be an active bystander. Together we can
create a community where everyone can thrive, feel safe and respected.
8 p.m. – Glow on the Green hosted by Fraternity and Sorority Life
University Green
The student leaders of the fraternity & sorority community are hosting an outdoor
glow party to welcome you to SHU. Be sure to stop by for fun, music, games, and more.
Sunday, August 25
2 p.m. - New Student Convocation
Richie Regan Recreation Center, Walsh Gym
Convocation is designed as an opportunity to reflect on the significance of your educational
endeavor and the commitment of the University to support you in the pursuit of your
goals. This is your first formal academic ceremony at the University.
3 p.m. - Blue Day Carnival
University Green
The annual Blue Day Carnival is a time to bring students together for fun with new
friends on the Green. Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with games, inflatables, activities,
and of course classic boardwalk treats!
8 p.m. – Welcome (Back) Mass and Ice Cream Social
All new and returning students are invited to join Campus Ministry for 8pm Mass, followed
by an Ice Cream Social outside the Main Chapel to wish you luck for the first day
of classes!
