Organized by the Pre-Professional Advising Center (P-PAC), the Career Center, the School of Medical and Health Sciences, and the College of Nursing, the event offered attendees a unique opportunity to connect with healthcare leaders, explore a variety of healthcare fields and gain valuable insights into potential career pathways.

The exposition featured an impressive array of healthcare professionals, including medical doctors, physician assistants, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, a speech-language pathologist, an optometrist and healthcare administrators. Each professional brought a wealth of experience and was eager to share their journeys and advice with the next generation of healthcare providers. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, build meaningful connections, and gather invaluable guidance on how to navigate their pre-professional path.

In addition to networking with professionals, students were presented with numerous opportunities to bolster their future health professional school applications. The exposition included access to clinical experiences, shadowing and volunteer possibilities. Local organizations like RWJ Scribing, Jag One, Special Olympics, SHU's DOVE office and student-led groups such as Women in STEM and Health Science Amplified provided insights into hands-on experiences designed to better prepare students for healthcare careers.

Daniel Nichols, Ph.D., Jessica Cottrell, Ph.D., and TinChun Chu, Ph.D., were also in attendance to share insights on the diverse research opportunities available at Seton Hall University. They discussed ongoing projects and invited students to explore how research can enrich their academic experience and contribute to their growth as future healthcare professionals.

Chantal Vergara, director of the Pre-Professional Advising Center, emphasized the importance of these connections for students pursuing healthcare careers. "The Health Professions Exposition is designed to give students direct access to professionals who are already making an impact in healthcare. These connections can be vital for mentorship, potentially securing clinical experiences and understanding the diverse paths available in the health professions," said Vergara.

Students were thrilled with the opportunity to engage with professionals. Ayame Ciocoiu, a sophomore considering a career in healthcare, shared her enthusiasm, "It was an incredible experience to meet so many professionals who were willing to give advice and help me understand what it takes to succeed as a healthcare professional. I feel more motivated and informed about my options."

The event not only provided a wealth of networking opportunities but also showcased Seton Hall University’s dedication to preparing students for professional school and developing future healthcare leaders. "We are thrilled with the turnout and the impact the Health Professions Exposition has on our students. It's essential that we continue to provide opportunities like this, where students can directly engage with experts and broaden their understanding of healthcare professions," added Vergara.

A special thank you was extended to all the healthcare professionals who took time out of their busy schedules to attend and connect with Seton Hall’s pre-health students. Their participation played a key role in inspiring and guiding students on their paths toward becoming the healthcare leaders of tomorrow.
