Director of Clinical Education
Department of Physical Therapy
All my greatest professional successes are built upon the foundation of my love of teaching. As a practicing physical therapist since 2001, I have had the opportunity to develop my skills and mentor others in successfully managing the care of patients with a range of complex neurologic diagnoses. Through serving in the role of Clinical Manager at a top rehabilitation center for over 12 years, I gained valuable expertise in the areas advanced clinical practice, professional collaboration, and leadership. My desire to educate developing physical therapy practitioners led to positions as the Site Coordinator of Clinical Education and Neurologic Residency Program Director at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation. Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in clinical research and have presented locally and nationally on varied topics related to clinical education and management of neurologic clients. Participation in these leadership and teaching experiences solidified my desire to continue to cultivate the next generation of exceptional physical therapists through formalized education and mentorship.
My teaching approach is rooted within my innate passion for learning. I strive to make that commitment to lifelong learning infectious to students through actively engaging them in the process. My teaching style involves asking probing questions, promoting peer communication, pulling in information from varied resources, and challenging learners to rationalize their clinical choices. Through setting the expectation for initiative and preparedness on the part of the student, I seek to effectively guide the learner beyond foundational elements to focus on integration of information, complex problem solving, and critical reflection. I am committed to building for the future of the profession by growing the knowledge and skills of upcoming practitioners to positively impact the field of physical therapy.
