As Director of Clinical Education and Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, I am excited to promote personal and professional growth of my students and impact the careers of future health care leaders. Since initiating my path as a physical therapist and clinical instructor in 1985, I have established a strong ethical foundation built upon integrity, accountability and excellence. Cultural respect and recognizing the strength of diversity in health care have been essential components of my patient management and teaching career. I believe in leading students by example, exuding passion and enthusiasm while maintaining a positive perspective on daily challenges and opportunities. My personal perspective to education focuses on assisting students to cultivate their personal goals, increase self-confidence while enhancing their approach to patient and client management.
My responsibilities at Seton Hall University include academic and clinical teaching for students enrolled in the entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Administratively, I am responsible for the clinical education portion of the curriculum through development and implementation of clinical experiences across the program of study. My areas of teaching besides clinical education, include leading the second year Clinical Diagnosis and Management V: Neurological Conditions which focuses on the management and diagnoses such as stroke, traumatic brain injury and vestibular dysfunction and participating in the Clinical Diagnosis and Management II: Congenital & Developmental Conditions. Prior to this appointment, I served as the Director of Clinical Education at Stockton University in Galloway, New Jersey.
Over the course of my career, I have been engaged in various aspects of clinical practice and student mentorship. Having worked in home care, including Early Intervention, various inpatient and outpatient settings, public schools and private institutions for both children and adults with developmental disabilities, I bring a wide realm of professional experience and viewpoints to the DPT program.
My volunteer work includes serving as the Assistant Chairperson for the Pediatric Special Interest Group for the New Jersey American Physical Therapy Association (APTA-NJ) and the New Jersey State Early Intervention Interagency Coordinating Council.
My scholarly interests currently are focused on leadership, interprofessional practice and interprofessional education, as well as in the area of progressive function for adults and children with neurological deficits.
