Rev. Thomas Dente, an Oakland, NJ, native and 1989 graduate of Seton Hall University, was ordained a priest for service to the Archdiocese of Newark in 1993. His first assignments were as a parochial vicar at St. Elizabeth, Wyckoff and St. John the Baptist, Hillsdale. In 1999, he joined the staff of the Archdiocesan Office of Divine Worship as an Associate Director. In 2005, he was named Director of the Office of Divine Worship. In 2015, he was appointed pastor of Notre Dame Church, North Caldwell while continuing to serve as a Director in the Worship Office.
He holds a Master of Divinity from Immaculate Conception Seminary, South Orange, and a Master of Arts in Liturgical Theology from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend. He has served as a member of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission, the Archdiocesan Evangelization Commission, Editor of Word on Worship and is a member of the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions. He has served as an adjunct faculty member in several local Catholic colleges specializing in liturgical and sacramental theology.
