Barbara Crostini, Ph.D.

Dr. Crostini is Adjunct Professor of Catholic Studies at Seton Hall University and a Core Member at the Ars edendi at Stockholm University. She earned her doctorate in Byzantine Studies at Oxford with a thesis on the eleventh-century Byzantine liturgical homiliary, the Evergetis Katechetikon. Before teaching at Seton Hall, Dr. Crostini was Research Associate for the Long Room Hub Funding Initiative, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and a Visiting Fellow and Coordinator of Byzantine Studies Network and the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Trinity College Dublin.
Dr. Crostini is currently working on an On-Line Critical Edition of Psalter Vaticanus graecus 752: Matching Verbal and Visual Commentaries and teaches the online Catholic Studies course, Worship and Holy Images in the Catholic Church, at Seton Hall. Using theological, historical, and anthropological perspectives, the course explores the spiritual significance of Christian iconography from early Christianity to the Middle Ages focusing on the links between imagery and Christian worship.
