My interdisciplinary education and experienced background in health sciences are integrated
in my teaching approach and practice. Prior to becoming a Physician Assistant, I was
an Occupational Therapist in an outpatient pediatric and adult outpatient clinic.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Quinnipiac University
in Hamden, Connecticut in 2000. During my practice as an Occupational Therapist, I
had a great interest in learning more about the etiologies of my patients’ symptoms
and cause of disability. This motivated me to pursue and complete my Master of Science
in Health Sciences at George Washington University in Physician Assistant studies
in 2007. I practiced as an Otolaryngology Physician Assistant in an outpatient clinic
and on the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgical Team. I treated both pediatric and
adult patients with ear, nose, and throat related illnesses in an outpatient clinic
and post-operative care. I gained my surgical skills by training with Otolaryngology
Surgeons and was a first assist in the operative room for head and neck surgeries.
In all my practices as a healthcare provider, education has been a big part of my
career from educating my patients to mentoring future health care students.
Since moving to New Jersey, I decided to pursue my passion for teaching and started
as an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University in 2016. I transitioned to a full-time
faculty member in January 2020 and became a Director of Clinical Education at the
Seton Hall University Physician Assistant Program. I look forward to new challenges
in my career and enhancing my teaching effectiveness to allow the clinical PA student
to take their new foundational medical knowledge and apply it to patient care during
clinical rotations. I am excited to be teaching the future physician assistants and
pursing my interest in physician assistant educational research.
