Mission Statement and Goals 

Mission

R.I.S.E. (Resilience, Integrity, Scholarship, & Excellence) is Seton Hall’s iteration of the U.S. Department of Education federal TRIO program’s Student Support Services program. The program serves over 140 low-income students, first-generation college students (i.e., students whose parents or guardians have not received a bachelor’s degree), or students with disabilities. R.I.S.E. seeks to increase persistence and graduation rates for eligible students by providing participants with a broad array of services, including, academic, financial, career, and personal support.

Goals

  • Developing a personal connection to and enhanced understanding of Seton Hall University offices, resources, & services
  • Enhanced knowledge and usage of skills and strategies aimed at improving academic performance
  • Demonstrable knowledge of financial literacy and increased confidence in the usage of financial tools and resources
  • Strategic individualized plan for professional development and career engagement
  • Establishment of personal/professional network that deepens the connection to the program and Seton Hall University
  • Participation in activities that enrich the student experience through social, cultural, and service-based initiatives
  • Understanding of personal leadership style and tools for success year-year and post-graduation
