Tuesday, June 25, 2024
The Stillman Summer Reception recently brought together over 100 alumni and friends to celebrate another successful year and to honor Karen Boroff, Ph.D., for her remarkable 35 years of service at Seton Hall University. The evening was filled with heartfelt tributes and shared memories, a true testament to Boroff's lasting impact on the Seton Hall community.
In celebration of Boroff's dedication and in recognition of her transformative contributions, the Joel and Karen Boroff International Travel Endowed Fund has been established. This fund is designed to support Stillman students, ensuring that future generations benefit from enriching international travel and educational opportunities.
To amplify the impact of contributions to this fund, Boroff and her husband Joel have generously agreed to match every donation dollar for dollar, up to $25,000. This matching initiative means that each gift will have double the impact, helping to provide invaluable experiences for our students.

Karen Boroff's retirement marks the end of a distinguished era. As a professor in the Department of Management at the Stillman School of Business, Boroff's career at Seton Hall has been nothing short of transformative. She impacted hundreds of students. She served as the dean of the Stillman School of Business from 2000 to 2010, a period during which the School significantly advanced the quality of its academic programs, earning numerous awards of excellence.
In January 2017, Boroff took on the role of Interim Provost and Executive Vice President of the University. In this position, she led the formation of a University-wide leadership development program for undergraduate students, championed budget transparency through responsibility-centered management, and instituted innovative summer learning experiences, including boot camps in cybersecurity and entrepreneurial endeavors. She also initiated the University’s faith-based outreach, engaging with faith leaders across New Jersey.
Boroff's expertise in management, human resources, labor relations, and negotiations has been a cornerstone of her teaching career. Her passion for presenting and publishing applied and pedagogical research in these areas has enriched the academic environment at Stillman. Beyond her contributions at Seton Hall, she has also shared her knowledge globally as a visiting professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point, the Management Center Innsbruck in Austria, and Anhui Normal University in Wuhu, China.
Boroff's retirement is a poignant moment for the Seton Hall community, marking the conclusion of a remarkable career filled with accomplishments and innovations that have left an indelible mark on the University. As we celebrate her legacy, we look forward to the continued success and growth of the programs and initiatives she has championed.
