Governmental Statutes and Regulations
Institutions of higher education are required to comply with a complex variety of federal, state and local laws, regulations and court rulings, on a wide array of issues. Just on the federal level, some examples include:
TOPIC | STATUTE |
Campus Safety & Security |
|
Students'/families' access to records |
|
Employment/labor issues |
|
In addition, laws and regulations at the state and local level specify additional requirements, with respect to the University's obligations.
The Office of EEO and Title IX Compliance serves as a source of technical information and support concerning the University's obligations in these areas. Drawing upon consultation with the University's Office of General Counsel, research (often web-based) into specific statutory or regulatory provisions/guidelines, and discussion with peers at other institutions, Office of EEO and Title IX Compliance staff work directly with the departments and staff within the University who may have specific concerns about the issues requiring interpretation.
