Rich Fritzky, Ph.D.
Inside the Core this week, we are pleased to announce a new book of an historical nature by one of our adjunct faculty members in the Core, Rich Fritzky, Ph.D. The book, Unfading Light, the Sustaining Insight and Inspiration of Abraham Lincoln, was recently published by Hamilton Books, of Rowman and Littlefield (2021). In it, Dr. Fritzky records the responses of forty-five people who have devoted their scholarship, study, art, etc., to Lincoln to five questions related to their personal interest in Lincoln and how he relates to current political events and social issues.
Overall, the book is not mere historical eulogizing, but an attempt to link this particular historical figure with individuals who have responded to him deeply and his relevance to our own troubled and troubling times. John C. Waugh, who wrote the introduction to Dr. Fritzky's book, describes it as "a fresh, unique and compelling look at Lincoln…."
On Presidents' Day, this Monday, at 4:30 p.m., Dr. Fritzky will be giving a brief presentation about the book, with questions and answers to follow. Please join us in celebrating this publication of one of our most dedicated and enthusiastic teachers, and engage in dialogue with him about it.
