If you are considering joining a fraternity or sorority at Seton Hall, follow these steps to learn more:
1. Do your research | We have 20+ organizations to choose from and each is unique. We suggest learning about each organization's individual qualities. You can do this in a variety of ways:
- Instagram: Follow SHU Greek Life to learn about events and our community.
- Website: Use the links to the left to find a brief description of each of our organizations. Take some time to look through each organization to find out more. You can also check their local or national websites and social media pages.
- Consider the financial cost, time commitment, and your values, when looking for an organization.
2. Make sure you are eligible | All students must be full time undergraduate students, have earned 12 credits at Seton Hall or at another institution of higher education where the credits have been recognized by SHU, and have a 2.5 GPA.
3. Attend Events | All of our organizations are extremely involved on campus. They regularly hold informational and educational programs while participating in council and department events. This is a great way to meet the active members and learn even more about the chapter.
4. Council Recruitment | Each council has a different recruitment style:
- Interfraternity Council (IFC) | The IFC hosts events for you to get to know their member organizations each semester. This is an informal way to meet each chapter in the council and find out about individual organization recruitment events.
- Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) | Organizations that belong to the MGC host events consistently throughout the year. Their expectation is that interested members come out to their events, stop by their tables and introduce themselves. Make sure that when you find the organization for you, you go up and say hi. This is the best way to make sure they invite you to future events and consider you for membership.
- National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC) | The organizations that belong to the NPHC host various events throughout the year. Their expectation is that interested candidates make an effort to form a bond with the members and actively express interest through involvement, academics, and service. Make sure that when you find the organization for you, you introduce yourself respectfully. This is the best way to get yourself noticed and increase your chances of consideration.
- Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC) | Our CPC organizations follow a formal, fully structured recruitment process in the Spring.
