Trinity Health Ministry Leadership Academy
In November 2010, Seton Hall University, through the Center for Catholic Studies' Bernard J. Lonergan Institute, partnered with Catholic Health East (CHE), one of the nation's largest Catholic health care systems, to develop a unique educational program focusing on the development and cultivation of the health system's next generation of Catholic healthcare leaders. Recently CHE merged with Trinity Health, Livonia MI, to create one of the nation's largest healthcare systems. Known as the Trinity Health Ministry Leadership Academy, this initiative develops a cadre of committed, well-formed senior lay leaders who will be asked to carry Trinity Health's ministries into the future and facilitate smooth succession for senior management teams at the system and local levels.
A program of the Bernard Lonergan Institute, it is led by Msgr. Richard Liddy and facilitated by university faculty specializing in healthcare management, law, theology and business, as well as members of the Trinity Health senior management team and other subject matter experts. The Trinity Health Ministry Leadership Academy focuses on "Leveraging the Legacy" (Servant and Steward Leaders) and "Creating the Future" (Prophet and Shepherd Leaders). It also invokes Bernard Lonergan's analysis of human consciousness to link theological mission with concrete practice. Participants are grouped into cohorts of 15-20 individuals meeting three times per year for a two year period. The first cohort completed the program in October 2012. The second Cohort began in Spring of 2013. Cohorts 3 and 4 graduated in May, 2017.
