Julie V. Burkey, D.Min., Adjunct Professor of Pastoral Theology, teaches the courses she created, Theology of Work, Catholic Evangelization and New Evangelization and Catechesis. From 2008 to 2015, she served the Seminary as Coordinator, Workplace Spirituality and Evangelization Initiatives, creating programs focusing on a spirituality of work for parishes, academia and the secular workplace. Dr. Burkey also created and facilitated the lay student leadership retreat series, Making our Work God's Work: Spiritual Formation for Lay Leadership in Pastoral Ministry, and she served as advisor to the lay student prayer and reflection group, Clay Lamps of Emmaus. She holds a master's degree from Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, having earned the prestigious Pope John Paul II Medal of Academic Excellence upon graduation, and a Doctor of Ministry from The Catholic University of America. She has worked with the Institute for Christian Spirituality since its inception, initially creating the core program, Finding the Work You Love, followed by several other programs on a variety of topics, including careers in Church ministry. Dr. Burkey currently serves on the Board of the American Academy of Management's Management, Spirituality, and Religion Division.
