Seton Hall Launches Enhanced Great Minds Dare to Care Website and The Well Toolkit

Dare to care initiative studentsSeton Hall University has unveiled a new interactive website for its Great Minds Dare to Care initiative and The Well Mental Health Toolkit, providing students and faculty with easily accessible and practical mental health resources, ensuring that students and faculty have the tools they need to thrive.

With grant funding from the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services and collaboration among various university departments and divisions, this revamped platform offers new tools to support mental health and wellness on campus.

“At Seton Hall, we are deeply committed to the well-being of our students and faculty,” said Anthony Turon, assistant dean of students. “These new platforms represent a significant step in providing accessible, practical resources to support mental health and build a culture of care.”

The updated site introduces a variety of resources aimed at helping students navigate mental health challenges. Highlights include:

  • A student-created video on How to Help a Friend, offering peer-driven guidance on providing support.
  • Clear explanations distinguishing sadness vs. depression and stress vs. anxiety, helping students recognize when to seek help.
  • The Well Toolkit, a comprehensive online collection of self-help tools designed to promote emotional wellness and resilience.

Recognizing the critical role faculty play in student success, the website also features a dedicated section for instructors, offering:

  • Informative videos on how to effectively respond to students in distress.
  • A quick-reference flowchart providing guidance on when and how to take action.
  • Syllabi statements and strategies for integrating resilience-building practices into coursework.

“This initiative represents Seton Hall’s unwavering commitment to the holistic success of our students,” said Dianne Aguero-Trotter, director of counseling and psychological services. “By providing easily accessible mental health resources, we are fostering a campus environment where every student feels supported, valued and equipped to thrive both academically and personally.”

The new Dare to Care website and The Well Mental Health Toolkit were a collaboration between the Dean of Students Office, Counseling and Psychological Services, the Division of University Relations, and the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center.
