SHU Blue Fridays Shows Seton Hall Spirit

Let’s Go Pirates! At Seton Hall, we pride ourselves in what great minds can do when working together to create a brighter future. Student Services would love to see your Pirate Pride and are excited to present SHU Blue Fridays! Together with Campus Inclusion and Scheduling and Operations, we welcome community members who wear Seton Hall colors and or logos every Friday to stop by the University Center, grab a free treat, and take your photo in their SHU Blue.

Monica Burnette, Ph.D., Vice President of Student Services shared, "Our vibrant campus has so much school spirit! Let’s celebrate our welcoming and inclusive Seton Hall community by building Pirate Pride and showcasing our school colors!"

Kira Casas-Puente, assistant director of Student Leadership and junior Kealan Daly, who is a marketing major and member of Alpha Sigma Phi, enthusiastically stepped in to add student organizations to the list of groups who will take turns manning the tabling in the University Center, so that different groups will be able to showcase their organization as well as engage their peers. Kealan said "SHU Blue is an event that highlights the importance of School Spirit here at Seton Hall."

Ghana Hylton, director of Campus Inclusion, shared "Monte Brown, assistant director of Scheduling & Operations and I were excited to get the ball rolling and set the tone for SHU Blue Fridays on campus, and our teams made it so easy by jumping right in. Plus, we are both alumni, so Seton Hall University school spirit is important to the both of us." Hylton hosted the first tabling, giving out candy to those in blue and telling passersby about the new initiative. "People were excited about SHU Blue Friday’s. We are reaching out to other campus partners such as Athletics and Campus Ministry as well for tabling."

SHU Blue Friday’s is an easy and refreshing opportunity for collaboration across campus as Student Services welcomes other areas in handling the tabling for any Friday available. The ability to interact with students and staff from so many different areas in the hub of campus, the University Center, makes it particularly valuable for fostering community and collaboration.

Senior, biology major and Seton Hall Sapphires dancer Caroline Quast stopped by the premier event that was held on Friday September 30. "SHU Blue Friday’s make me proud to be a Pirate and provide a feeling of unity with my peers."

Isadora Cesar is a junior biology major. She said "I like SHU Blue Friday because it encourages everyone to wear the school's colors which can help foster a sense of community and school spirit. It gives students something to look forward to at the end of the week. Photo opportunities makes it an exciting and memorable experience for everyone."
