Internship Eligibility
Seton Hall University has established specific requirements for students seeking internships, including professional and ethical expectations before searching for and accepting internships.
To be eligible for an internship, you must:
- Have completed 30 credits of coursework at Seton Hall University; if you are a transfer student, you must complete one full semester at the university.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 (some academic departments may have higher minimum GPA expectations for credit-bearing internships).
- Students who find an internship before completing these steps should contact The Career Center immediately upon receiving an offer to ensure the internship meets University standards.
Please note that internships must entail a minimum of 15 hours per week for at least 10 consecutive weeks. The Career Center staff, in collaboration with faculty, will determine whether the description meets the University’s criteria, including a level of responsibility that allows students to increase their confidence level and develop professional skills. The sponsoring organization will need to provide progressive responsibilities over time if an intern remains with the organization for an additional semester.
All students are required by the University to record their internships on Handshake by clicking here.
This requirement applies whether or not you earn credit and regardless of how you obtained the position — through Handshake or an outside source.
Once your internship is recorded on Handshake, you will receive an email from The Career Center that may require further follow-up.
