Heart of the University, Faculty Retreat Series 2019-2020: Dr. Marianne Lloyd

The third retreat, given by Dr. Marianne Lloyd on the theme of "The Idea of a University and Discernment: Prioritizing Person over Productivity," will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Chancellors Suite, lower level, Student Center.
Engaging in authentic, meaningful career development necessitates a shift from a focus on small time savers (Maximize efficiency! Tame the inbox! Cut meetings in half!) to large questions (Why am I here? What should I be doing? How can I help others grow?) We will examine the idea of discernment, take time to consider our own vocations and how they are related to those around us, and explore why our spiritual lives and employment at a Catholic university are assets when considering these questions. Whether you are feeling satisfied, stuck, or somewhere in between, this retreat will give you a space to pause and reflect. Marianne E. Lloyd, PhD has been a faculty member in the Psychology Department since 2006. She is particularly interested in the intersections of memory, faith, and student development.
