Tutoring
Peer tutors are SHU students who are recommended by their instructors for both their mastery of the subject matter and their capacity to collaborate with other students. Each semester, the peer tutors take part in training workshops to enhance their skills to best serve you! They can assist with the completion of assignments, help with understanding difficult concepts and provide contrasting viewpoints on the subject matter. Peer tutors aim to encourage students as they develop their ability to ask and respond to insightful questions by serving as role models for effective inquiry and learning strategies.
The ARC provides peer support for a range of topics, including biology, chemistry, nursing, accounting and economics, among others. Please check Compass for complete tutoring schedules for your courses.
Math tutoring is available through the Math Learning Lab, which is located in the
ARC. Please see Compass for schedules. Language tutoring is available in the Department
of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. More information can be found here.
