Seton Hall Graduate Programs Earn National and Regional Distinctions in U.S. News Rankings

Programs in business, law, health sciences and education were once again ranked among the best in the country, with several making significant gains.

Designed for prospective students looking to further their education beyond college, the Best Graduate Schools rankings evaluate programs in a variety of disciplines. By collecting graduate school data annually, U.S. News is able to present the most current figures on enrollment, job attainment, faculty and other critical quality indicators that help prospective students make informed decisions. School of Law: Specialty Programs Surge
As part of its law school rankings, U.S. News also ranks what it calls “Specialties” within the law. Home to the renowned Center for Health & Pharmaceutical Law, Seton Hall Law has long been known as a leader in Health Care Law and has ranked within the Top 15 in in U.S. News for decades. Last year, the program rose one place, putting it in the Top 10. This year, Health Law rose to No. 9 nationally — the highest-ranked program in the tri-state area.

According to U.S. News (which uses ABA report numbers), Seton Hall ranks among the Top 10 law schools in the tri-state area. The Law School’s unique weekend program remains ranked in the Top 25 part-time programs in the country.

In addition, the following specialties saw a rise in rankings this year:

  • Intellectual Property Law climbed 19 spots to No. 63 — ranked among the Top 7 programs in the tri-state area.
  • Clinical Training rose 24 places to No. 71 — also Top 10 among private institutions in the region.
  • Trial Advocacy improved 12 spots to No. 48 — another Top 10 private in the region.
  • International Law jumped 27 spots to No. 77 — now a Top 10 private program in the tri-state area.

The Law School is also ranked by Princeton Review as the best law school in the nation for securing a state or local clerkship after graduation, based on data on J.D. graduates from the 2023 class.

Stillman School of Business: Top in New Jersey and Tri-State Area
The Stillman School of Business’ Part-Time M.B.A. program rose five spots this year to No. 68 — marking a rise of 16 places over the past two years and placing it firmly in the top tier of business schools in the country. It is ranked No. 2 in New Jersey and the No. 1 private M.B.A. program in the state. Among private institutions in the tri-state area (New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut), Stillman ranks among the Top 5. Seton Hall is also ranked among the Top 15 Catholic universities in the nation.

Earlier this year, the Stillman School of Business reaffirmed its elite status with dual AACSB accreditation in business and accounting, remaining among the fewer than 2 percent of business schools worldwide to hold both distinctions. In addition, the School’s M.S. in Accounting program earned endorsement by IMA (Institute of Management Accountants), one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession.

School of Health and Medical Sciences: Multiple Programs on the Rise
Seton Hall’s School of Health and Medical Sciences (SHMS) achieved notable gains across several disciplines:

  • Master of Healthcare Management (M.H.A.) rose eight spots to No. 33 nationally. It is the only M.H.A. program in New Jersey offering both in-person and online formats.
  • The Master of Science, Physician Assistant program climbed six spots to No. 14, placing it among the top seven percent of all programs nationwide.
  • The Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) program moved up nine spots to No. 65, climbing 18 places in the past two years and into the top twenty-five percent of schools nationally.

Two additional SHMS programs maintained their elite status: the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (M.S.O.T.) program, ranked No. 61 nationally, is the highest-ranking M.S.O.T. program in New Jersey; and the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (M.S. in S.L.P.) ranked No. 92, continues to hold the top spot in the state.

In addition to the rise in rankings which place these programs in the top third nationally, School of Health and Medical Sciences faculty have secured $3.4 million in competitive research grants since 2023.

Graduate Programs Across Colleges Continue to Excel
Seton Hall was also named as a “Best Education School,” ranked as the No. 1 private university in New Jersey and in the Top 15 among all institutions in the tri-state area. In January, Seton Hall’s online graduate education programs were recognized by U.S. News as among the best in the nation and within the top 10 in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT). Both the M.A.E. in Education Leadership, Management and Policy and M.A. in School Counseling programs in the College of Human Development, Culture, and Media were ranked in the top 25 percent of all online graduate-level education programs in the U.S. and third in New Jersey.

Additionally, the College of Arts and Sciences’ Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) program, which offers a concentration in nonprofit management, was nationally ranked in the Top 50 percent of all programs (No. 129) and No. 24 for nonprofit management. Among Catholic universities, it ranked No. 4 and within the tri-state area, No. 17.

U.S. News & World Report also recognized Seton Hall’s College of Nursing in its January 2025 ranking of Best Online Master’s in Nursing Programs. The Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) programs climbed to 21st out of 198 programs at U.S. colleges and universities, placing Seton Hall in the top 11 percent of all programs nationwide, third among all Catholic colleges and universities and — once again — top-ranked in New Jersey.
