Housing Basics for New Students

New Students: Start Here to Your Home at the Hall!

Welcome to Your Home at the Hall! The Department of Residence Life is very excited to welcome you to our residential community.

This page serves as department's starting point for newly accepted first-year and transfer students. It provides all the information that you will need to know about living in Seton Hall University housing as an incoming student.

Housing Requirement and Availability

There is no residency requirement for any student to live in University housing. To be eligible for University housing, you must be registered as a full-time student (at least 12 credits).

Housing is guaranteed for the first 1,050 first-year/transfer students who – by the May 1 deadline – (1) complete a housing application and (2) submit a housing deposit.

How to Receive a Housing Assignment and Select Your Roommate(s)/Suitemate(s)

The process of receiving a housing assignment and selecting into a roommate group is explained at the Housing Assignments for First-Year and Transfer Students webpage

Meal Plans

All students living in on-campus University housing assignments are required to have a meal plan assignment. The default meal plan option is Meal Plan U.

After receiving your housing assignment and until Add/Drop Day (approximately one week into the semester), you may upgrade to Meal Plan U-300 or Meal Plan U-700 via your eRezLife portal.

What to Bring to the Residence Halls

While preparing to pack your items, check out the What to Pack for Seton Hall Residence Halls webpage. We recommend coordinating with your roommate(s) and suitemate(s) to ease the move in process, too.

If you are interested in renting a MicroFridge (combination microwave and refrigerator), visit the MicroFridge website. While we partner with the MicroFridge vendor to coordinate them dropping off and picking up the units in the residence halls, they oversee the rest of the process. Therefore, you should contact the vendor directly with any questions.

Virtual Residence Hall Room Tours

While HRL is unable to offer residence hall or room tours of Aquinas Hall or Boland Hall prior to your arrival to campus, we are happy to share Residence Hall Virtual Room Tours.
